Medtech, R&D, Strategy, Quality: Introducing Anke Waterschoot

'When a project comes in, I deal with all aspects of it, from the first contact and the tender process up to executing and analysing tests and communicating with the client. Of course I don't do it alone, but with a team of highly skilled colleagues.’

Medtech, R&D, Strategy, Quality: Introducing Anke Waterschoot
Introduction:

At LifeTec Group professionals from many countries work together. But there is no lack of talent in the Eindhoven / Brainport region itself.

One of these talents is project manager and engineer Anke Waterschoot, 33, from Mierlo.

At LifeTec Group, she found the challenging environment she had been looking for for some time.

'It sort of runs in the family...'

It was hardly surprising that Anke would choose a technical study after finishing secondary school. ‘It sort of runs in the family, I guess.’  Still, Anke took a somewhat different path than people expected. After finishing secondary school she opted for higher professional education rather than a technical university. ‘I wanted to be hands-on.’  Eventually she enrolled in Technical Physics at Fontys Hogescholen in Eindhoven, and majored in medical technology. She graduated well ahead of her fellow students. ‘When I finished, I thought I'd take a few months off,’ she laughs. ‘But I got bored very quickly. So I started looking for work.’

Blue Medical

She joined Blue Medical (now Wellinq) in Helmond (NL), the company she had passed every day on her way to secondary school. ‘I was hired to work as an engineer in the R&D department, developing heart catheters and the associated production processes.’

She enjoyed herself at the company. ‘I got the opportunity to get to know various aspects of the business. I learned a great deal there, but after 11 years I was ready for a new challenge.’

Project Manager and Engineer with LifeTec Group

Anke already knew LifeTec Group. ‘In the past my previous employer had worked with LifeTec Group at some stage.’ When she saw a LifeTec Group vacancy, she knew immediately she would apply. The job proved not to be quite right for her, but: ‘We decided to stay in touch because we felt we were exactly on the same wavelength.’ Later, the right job did come up. Since May 2018 Anke is a project manager and engineer with LifeTec Group.

Responsibility ánd Freedom

In her work she has a lot of responsibility and freedom.

‘When a project comes in, I deal with all aspects of it, from the first contact and the tender process up to executing and analysing tests and communicating with the client. Of course I don't do it alone, but with a team of highly skilled colleagues.’

Can she use her 11 years' work experience at her previous company at LifeTec Group? 'I think so,' she says. 'Over those 11 years I have seen many ideas mature into actual medical devices, so these processes aren't new to me. I hope I will be able to use this knowledge and experience in my present job.'

'Take on a new challenge'

She has only been with LifeTec Group for a few months now, but she already feels right at home.

‘The work is very varied and instructive. I really feel I'm in the right place here and I haven't regretted my choice for a second. I knew what I could expect. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and take on a new challenge. And I feel good about it. Last but not least, the people I work with are also great. They are like one big family, everybody helps each other out. If I get stuck, one of my colleagues always has a new perspective. No wonder, they are all very clever people, obviously!’
